Each necklace has over 1000 tiny beads that are hand stringed together by nomadic Maasai women. The necklace is paired with a pair of beaded bracelets and drop earrings.

The Maasai is a nomadic group living in East Africa. The Maasai has been using elaborate beaded Jewelry in cultural events, weddings and rituals for hundreds of years. The beaded Jewelry is worn by both men and women. Older Maasai women teach the younger ones the art of Jewelry making  and so the tradition is passed down from generation to generation. The elaborate and stunning pieces are carefully handmade and some pieces take many days to create.

A ride through the Kenyan countryside will let you see these beautiful women wrapped in colorful shukas (traditional clothes) and wearing the most elaborate necklaces.

Jamgal is happy to partner with some members of this tribe as they share a small piece of their culture.
